Friendship Village Columbus

Special Projects

Annually, our Development leadership chooses funds that are our priority for the year. For 2015-6, our focus completing the final Phase of our Friendship Woods renovations. A true treasure at Friendship Village of Columbus is Friendship Woods. The winding path, comfortable benches, beautiful bridge, scenic overlook, and restful gazebo welcome the residents of Friendship Village into nature. The appealing “walk in the woods” is something many of our residents do, come rain or shine, daily. Our Phase I renovations have already encouraged more residents to experience this oasis and assure those currently enjoying the Woods can do so for years to come.

Time in nature enriches the soul and making our Woods accessible for everyone is the our primary goal. The surface of the path has been re-worked, the grade improved to provide a level walking surface, and railing added in specific areas to insure safety and security. Two new entrances are part of the plan so that residents from all Wings can enter through green space. This enhancement to our community is a perfect way for champions of nature, health, and wellness to feel good about creating an accessible outdoor space for those who call Friendship Village of Columbus home. In essence, we are improving “our back yard.”

With Phase I and II complete, we are looking to raise funds for additional enhancements and transportation to and through the Woods for the additional total of $45,000. To date every project and structure in the Woods has been underwritten by our residents, resident family members, and friends of Friendship Village of Columbus and this too shall be. Your help to complete this accessible and safe pathway is greatly appreciated. We feel confident that the love of our Woods is something that will increase with these improvements and so many more will be able to enjoy it on a frequent basis. Commemorative naming opportunities are available at various levels.

We moved to Friendship Village Columbus for various reasons. We are reasonably healthy and wanted to be sure we could enjoy the benefits of independent living before moving to the next phase of our lives. Through the experience of some friends we decided to skip the condo phase and go directly to a friendly senior living environment.

We moved here before we were 70 to allow for a pleasurable retirement. The Lifecare contract, safety, amenities and activities supersede any other facilities we considered. Camaraderie between residents and staff is a rich experience.

During my two weeks at Friendship Village Columbus, the service was wonderful, everyone was loving and caring, and the staff helped to make my recovery fast and easy.
