Friendship Woods provides a natural oasis in residential neighborhood
Part of the Village’s 23-acre campus includes Friendship Woods, a natural refuge full of trees and native plants with accessible walking paths and a sheltered gazebo. A surfaced walking trail includes benches placed throughout the path to rest, bird watch or visit with a friend. A bridge and gazebo create visual interest and provide areas to visit or simply enjoy the view. Entrances are well lit and beautifully landscaped. Safety railings are installed at the overlook, gazebo and south entrance.
A green space accessible to all who live at Friendship Village Columbus
The Woods fulfills a dream shared by many residents who wished to bring an up-close experience with nature to Friendship Village Columbus. Resident Bill Taylor set to work designing a space that would enhance the natural landscape while offering paved walkways, scenic views and places to rest. Aided by resident architect Wayne Dipner, plans for a bridge, benches, shelter, deck and wildlife feeding areas were developed.
Friendship Woods was dedicated in October 2015 with a special event honoring the memories and visions of Bill, Wayne and others who worked tirelessly to bring the dream to fruition.
